9th-Jul-2008 08:59 pm - ELFQUEST MOVIE!!
http://www.elfquest.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5932

Yes! Hollywood, you can count on my ticket!! And probably my poor husband, who I'm sure to drag along.

Just... don't screw Rayek up. He's an anti-hero, not an antagonist.
2nd-Jul-2008 05:40 pm - So.
It's 5:40pm and I'm still at work because I locked my keys in the car. I'll, um, be canning that decision to start carrying my keys in my purse.

In other news, dress found and shruggy-thing made. I'm just looking for the right broach to keep the shrug fastened and in place. Pictures sometime.
21st-May-2008 08:27 pm - Bah, humbug.
My sister is getting married in October and it looks like I'm going to need all 5 months left to find a bridesmaid's dress. Gah.

I found something that should have been absolutely perfect. I made arrangements with my in-laws to drive down to New York (two hour drive plus border crossing). I called the place to be sure they had that dress in stock. It was all a bust. Either the dress they had wasn't actually the dress I'd asked for or it's very different in real life. The cap sleeves weren't cap sleeves so much as wide straps that slid over a bit. The sweetheart neckline dipped much lower than it appears on the model. *sigh*

So, back to the drawing board. I'm leaning toward this but I'm not 100% sure. I'd rather the design were a little more '50's, since that's a style RJ likes and will probably harmonize well with the stuff at the wedding. (RJ is no bridezilla and has thankfully given me free reign with the dress.)

Thoughts? Designers who work for cheap? (And remember what a sleeve looks like?) :)

10th-May-2008 01:46 pm - 30? Since when?
I've learned a lot in the months leading up to my birthday. It just may be that people bemoaning their age are not in fact objecting to the years they have lived so much as how they have lived them.

There's not a lot I'd've done differently with my life. I'd've saved more money for life after the wedding than for the wedding. I'd've studied something else at university instead of pigeon-holing myself into something I felt I was already good at. That's about it.

What I mind about being 30 is the things I don't have in my life that I'd always thought I'd have by now. Like, say, kids. I can live without the neatest new game station, but there's a window of time in a woman's life for having kids and I'm further into than I wanted to be before starting. But then, as "Elfquest" says (hey, just because I'm 30 doesn't mean I've magically stopped being a geek) "life's path is not serenely smooth and straight but full of unexpected bumps and turns."

Here's to another year of bumbling about in life. :)

You know you're in trouble when, getting up in the morning, you wake up from a dream where you're telling someone you haven't gotten to sleep all night.

8th-Mar-2008 11:20 am - I want my money back.
I bought myself a small, cheapish mp3 player. It's a Sansa C250. It works just fine, except for the whole "only plays mp3s" part. Holy cow do I want to hit someone at the company over the head. If the player only plays mp3s, why in the world would you include a month trial for Napster WHICH ONLY HAS .WMAs??? Napster itself sucks and will never be given any of my money. The files are digitally protected so that I can't convert them into usable mp3s. If I try to burn them, I have to purchase them. If I want to keep them in my digital library for more than a month I have to buy them. What was the point of that "free trial?!"

18th-Feb-2008 08:59 am - Happy Family Day
Happy "what" day, you ask? Ontario decided we needed a holiday in February. An actual holiday, the kind you get off of work for, not just the spend-a-rama kind like Valentine's Day. So it created Family Day.

And I woke up this morning to a living room flooded by meltwater. I've spent the last 40 minutes pulling up squares of carpet and stashing the dripping things in my shower. Yay.
